Not Dead......Yet....

Nope, I haven't died. And the Blogger software hasn't been disabled. I've just been trying to keep my head above water over the last month.

So, here's a recap of what's been going on lately...

I attend Quilt Market in Salt Lake City the first part of May. Having lived in Texas my whole life, I really enjoyed the mountain scenery. On our first day, the husband of a quilt shop owner recommended that we drive back to town through the Provo canyon. The drive was gorgeous! We took a slight detour to Sundance - Robert Redford's resort.

This is a view of one of the ski lifts with snow still on the mountains. During our stay in SLC, they were still getting snow in the higher elevations and we would check the "white" each morning. And it's MAY! Such a departure from the weather here at home - thunderstorms, tornadoes, and 85 degree temps...

Upon return from Market, I spent the next 2 weeks meeting with fabric reps (I'd rather see them in my shop than at Market) looking at approximately 10,000 different pieces of fabric. Turns the brain to absolute mush. Also on the schedule was making plans and samples for our Market Review Party, year-end orchestra rehearsals and concerts, and the girl child's 12th birthday (a celebration which lasted for several days).

On top of all that, I misplaced my battery charger and couldn't take or download pictures.

Since I haven't had the opportunity to take real quilt pictures, I'll share this picture with you. I was at Wal-Mart during Mother's Day weekend and this just struck me as hilarious.

I didn't receive a 3-foot statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe for Mother's Day. Did you?

School is almost out. May is almost over. Thank God.

No, I didn't get one either -- though, it is just, um, interesting -- yes, that is a word I would use if pressed, enough to be amusing.

Keep your head up, these rush times do seem to pass evenutally (when I'm not sure, but I've been told they do).

Am now digging in my purse to find 50 bucks! (and you know I am) She would look cool with my St. Frank. Love the baby angel under the skirt! See you tomorrow in Kaffeland!

I'll check my flower bed and see if I have a place for the virgin of Guadalupe. Good to hear from you, was starting to worry..

I'm sure my husband was waffling between a virgin of Guadalupe for me, or an ipod... hmm.. which one?? I think he ended up tossing a coin, and I got the ipod.

Glad that you have resurfaced! I was beginning to get worried about you! I've been to Texas (San Antonio) while you've been gone - but unfortunately it wasn't in your neck of the woods. Someday I would love to visit your store and meet you. I have been snuggling under the Denyse Schmidt quilt lately and wondering what had become of you!

I'm glad you are well. Salt Lake City is one of those places that is on my must-see list, mostly for their genealogy library. I hadn't thought about the view, and if I could wrangle an invitation to Quilt Market, that would just be pure heaven. I'm sure it is a lot more work as a shop owner, having to make so many decisions about what people will buy, etc.

I lived in south Baltimore for a few years and this statue would have gone over big! They liked to take an old bathtub and plant it on it's side in their garden then put the stature of the virgin Mary inside. My neighbor called it a Virgin in a Half-bath....(I swear i am not making this stuff up!!!)

I hope that you had a great time while you were in Utah for quilt market. I got a kick out the the picture that you took at Sundance. I live directly over the mountain (Mt. Timpanogos) in your picture! You can see some pictures at my blog site that I took of my DD in Provo Canyon last month.
