It's a Southern Thang

Last night was a true Southern dinner. We finally harvested 17 okra....which I supplemented with a couple of purchased yellow squash (until our squash are ready), all fried to a golden brown. Add grilled chicken and you've got a meal!

Is it any wonder I need to drop a couple of pounds?

** I don't cook like this all the time. It's not always the most healthy, but it's not always this bad, either.

Oh my gosh! I looked at this and thought I was going to have to come down and join you! That looks so good. I am doing all I can to coax a few veggies from potted plants. I can't imagine such bounty!

Yum! I can almost taste the okra thru the screen. I didn't grow okra this year but I'll be heading to the farmers market after work to get me some for tonight!

Yummy - fried okra! Add squash patties and some collard greens and I would be in Heaven! I remember a many a meal like that when I was younger from my grandma's garden. Boy do I miss her!

Yum here too! Looks good to me. Fried is the only way I like okra, although I haven't yet met a squash cooked any way I didn't like, boiled, in a casserole, baked with parmesan, fried, and even raw.
